Ronnie James Dio Set To Do World Tour 7 Years After Death

News emerged yesterday that Rock & Metal legend Ronnie James Dio is set to embark on a world tour in hologram form. First seen at Wacken Festival in Germany, the virtual Dio will tour with the band ‘Dio’s Disciples’, consisting of former Dio band members. The hologram, designed and engineered by Eyellusion, has been given the blessing by his widow and manager Wendy Dio.

Eyellusion’s Jeff Pezzuti told axs.com that a new Dio hologram would be created for the tour. “The tour is currently being routed and we are hoping to make an announcement for an end-of-year kickoff in the coming months,” he said. “This is not just about the US. It is truly a world tour. Ronnie’s fans are spread around the world and we intend to bring this exciting show to as many as we can. The show will not only feature Ronnie and his band but also live singers like Tim ‘Ripper’ Owens [formerly of Judas Priest] and others to complete the overall show vision.”

The footage above, shot at Wacken Festival, performing one of the great Dio classics ‘We Rock’ has split rock fans, with some deeming it morbid, while others are excited for this new form of live entertainment, bringing us closer to artists who we would not be able to see perform.

We at Rocked Up personally can’t wait for the tour, and will be bringing you updates on when the tour is officially announced.
